The poem below is a chain of haiku in which
the original English haiku follows the traditional
5-7-5 syllabic rule. The Spanish versions translate
the meaning, but not the number of syllables.

SLOAN’S LAKE GEESE
LOS GANSOS DEL LAGO SLOAN

Lake geese, not afraid
of cars nor snow nor people

The senryu is a Japanese poetic form similar
to the haiku. The traditional senryu
follows the 5-7-5 syllabic rule. Its theme is
human nature. Below I present a chain of
senryu in which the original is the English version.

El senryu es una forma poética japonesa similar
al haiku. Su tema es la naturaleza humana.
El senryu tradicional sigue la regla
silábica 5-7-5. El siguiente poema es una cadena
de senryus; la version original es la inglesa.

The tanka is another Japanese poetic form. The traditional tanka has five lines which follows the 5-7-5-7-7 syllabic rule. However, the modern English tanka has an irregular syllabic count, only keeping the five lines. The Tanka themes can be love, nature, humor, etc. Below I include five tanka. The original version is the English.

El tanka es otra forma poética japonesa. El tanka tradicional tiene cinco líneas conla regla silábica 5-7-5-7-7. Sin embargo, el tanka inglés moderno tiene un conteo irregular de las sílabas y sólo mantiene las cinco líneas.Los temas del tankapueden ser amor, naturaleza, humor, etc. A continuación presento cinco tankas. La versión original es la inglesa.
